Because of company practices, some organizations do not want their servers off-site. They also do not what the distractions and expense of in-house personnel to install, maintain support, upgrade, and resolve issues.
A viable alternative is On-Premise Hosting. In this business model, BTR Associates provides the server, software, technical support, maintenance, upgrades and other tasks for the organization and installs the computers on the client’s site. The client provides an acceptable location within their premise. Since the server is the property of BTR Associates, there are no capital requirements and BTR is able to use their purchasing power and leverage to benefit the client.
The applications can and in many cases do, coexist with other business applications (See Application Hosting for additional alternatives). If the client wishes to provide their own hardware, software, licensing and so forth, but wishes to not have to provide technical support, BTR Associates also provides managed services . Using On-Premise Hosting allows clients to have on-site servers without having to buy, maintain, support, or manage them.
The client organizations need to provide an adequate location for servers located on their site. The requirements are:
1. A locked room with a secure locking system
2. A dedicated circuit
3. Environmental controls to maintain a room temperature of between 500 Fahrenheit and 750 Fahrenheit
4. Seven by 24 hour access by BTR Associates
5. Data line inputs and Outputs
6. A data rack (type varies by scope of services)
7. A table and storage rack for use by BTR Associates
8. Access to a lockable file cabinet
As part of the services provided for On-Premise Hosting, BTR Associates will review and provide specific needs for any proposed client location.
